Established in 1971 by Late Shri Vishwant Kumar, Modern Bazaar was set up as India’s First Supermarket selling imported food products in the C Block Market, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi. In the last 5 decades, Modern Bazaar has created itself a name as the One Stop place for all essential and exclusive grocery and food products in Delhi, NCR and Chandigarh. From a single outlet to having spread into 21 sprawling outlets in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida & Chandigarh, Mr Kunaal Kumar, current Director has taken Modern Bazaar to new heights.
Kunaal Kumar, Director, Modern Bazaar joined the family business in 1991. The year 2004, was the testing time for Modern Bazaar. A fire hazard in the Basant Lok branch reduced the outlet into cinders. “Fire is the test of gold; adversity, of strong men.” said Martha Graham. Taking a leaf out of this, Kunaal Kumar, rebuilt Modern Bazaar with added enthusiasm, energy and customer service. Since then, there has been no looking back for Kunaal Kumar and Modern Bazaar with their loyal customers appreciating their offers and service.
Today, Modern Bazaar has 21 outlets, all managed solely by Kunaal Kumar. Delhi region boasts of a store each in Vasant Vihar, East of Kailash, Kailash Colony, Defence Colony, New Friends Colony, Punjabi Bagh, Dwarka, Green Park, Civil Line and the Premium Store at Select City Walk, Saket. Gurgaon prides itself with a store each in DLF Phase 1, SS Plaza Sec-47, CyberHub and Worldmark Sec-65. Modern Bazaar opened it's first Store in Noida at Berger Tower, Sector 16B in 2020 & a second store in Noida at Hush Food Mall, Sector 63 in 2021. In 2023 Modern bazaar opened its 19th store at Gulshan One29 Mall In Noida Sec-129 & 20th store in Aerocity, Delhi. In September 2023 Modern Bazaar opened it's 21st store in Iris broadway sector 85 Gurgaon. Every outlet is managed by Modern Bazaar, there are no franchisee model and all outlets offer Home Delivery for convenience coupled with customer delight.
In 2016, Modern Bazaar launched https://modernbazaar.online/ the website, ModernBazaar apps for Android & IOS platform giving customers the ease of shopping from their nearest Modern bazaar outlet on a single click. In October 2019, the updated website and apps features MB Wallet, Voice Search, Kitchen Manager and more to take online shopping to greater heights.
Modern Bazaar won the "Coca Cola Golden Spoon Award 2018 for No.1 Retail Chain (Food & Grocery) of North India". In Year 2019, Modern Bazaar won "Gourmet Retailer of the Year 2019" and "Star Retailer Awards 2019".
Modern Bazaar has plans to open more outlets in the coming years at Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad and Delhi to make it more convenient for customers to shop all their Food & Grocery requirements.
